How easy is it to drive a Kuk Tuk?

If you've ridden a manual motorbike before, very easy.  If not, we do not recommend hiring one of our Kuk Tuks.

I can ride a scooter, are they the same?

No, our Kuk Tuks are Manually geared, NOT Automatic.

What license is required?

A motorbike license will be required to rent a Kuk Tuk. If you don't have one, these can be obtained from the Rarotonga Police Station. Once licensed we'll take you through a functional and operational assessment to ensure you're capable of safely handling the vehicle.

What are the differences between Kuk Tuks?

Green & White Kuk Tuks are identical models. Our Yellow Kuk Tuk has a larger 250cc engine and can comfortably fit more people with its forward & rear facing passenger seats. With it's larger wheels, it is more suited for longer term hire.

How old do I have to be?

To rent a Kuk Tuk you have to be over 21 years old at the time of pick-up.

How many people can they carry?

All models are licensed to carry a max. 4 people including the driver.

Are they safe for kids?

As long as a child can stay seated while mobile, they are fine. However, it is recommended children should be over 5 to ride in a Kuk Tuk and accompanied by an adult beside them at all times.

Can I drive them anywhere?

Due to the rough road conditions (including the western side of the Main Road), our Kuk Tuks are restricted to the Main Road only. Don't sweat it, this will take you around 90% of the Islands main attractions including the lagoon, not that we recommend driving in it.

Is there any storage?

Our smaller models limited storage beneath the driver seat including a small lockbox for valuables. The Yellow one only has very limited storage behind the rear seat. There is no accommodation for large luggage items so are not recommended for airport drop-offs or pick-ups
